The Precast Show, Feb. 18-20 at the Phoenix Convention Center, will feature the latest equipment, products and services from more than 200 suppliers to the industry as well as an extensive educational program ranging from industry specific training to ways to run a business. Promoters say the industry is poised for a rebound and The Precast Show is the place to start.
"We're not going back to business as usual," said Ty E. Gable, president of the National Precast Concrete Association, which is sponsoring the event along with the American Concrete Pipe Association.
"The post-recession economy will be different from recent recoveries, and the companies that understand the new environment will be the winners when the rebound starts. Precast manufacturers are going to have to understand the new construction environment and learn how to do business in new ways."
The Precast Show is an important event for anybody who makes precast concrete. Products being showcased range from heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, mixers, batch plants and forms, to accessories such as admixtures, sealants and lifting devices, to bar coding systems and innovative new plant management software.
"Many of the exhibitors are industry experts who can provide attendees with valuable insights in lean production, quality improvements and new technology," Gable said.
In addition to three days of educational sessions covering precast and pipe production, business management, finance, safety and sustainability, The Precast Show features special Product Clinics from three exhibitors: Control RetroFix, Hamilton Kent and MBK Machinery.
Product Clinics are designed to give attendees an in-depth look at equipment and accessories. Show attendees will also have a chance to visit two Phoenix area plants Thursday, Feb. 18, with tours of U.S. Concrete Precast Group and Oldcastle Precast.
"Companies are learning how to diversify their product lines and become more nimble," Gable said. "We'll have the experts in Phoenix who can provide ideas, answer questions and help solve problems. For precasters, there's no better place to find everything under one roof."
