SBIC named Green Advocate of the Year
he Sustainable Buildings Industry Council (SBIC) has been named Green Advocate of the Year in the Group category at the 2006 National Association of Home Builders' (NAHB) Annual National Green Building Conference in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mexican cement duty reduced
Duties on imports of cement from Mexico, which have been running about $26 per metric ton, were lowered April 3 to $3 per metric ton.

Portland cement excluded from OSHA standard
In a victory for affordable housing and against unnecessary government regulation, the final Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard on hexavalent chromium published in the Feb. 28 Federal Register excludes exposure to portland cement in construction and other industries.
